How to File an Auto Glass Insurance Claim

No deductible windshield repairAll major insurance companies including State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, Liberty Mutual, Hartford, Nationwide, Progressive, Esurance, Geico, USAA, AAA, Costco, American Family, AIG and many others are approved and accepted by Avondale Windshield Replacement. Additionally, if you carry a $0 deductible glass replacement endorsement of your insurance policy you will qualify for our $50 Cash back offer.

As a policyholder in Arizona you should know that you have the right to choose your own auto glass repair facility. Our company honors all insurance contracts and their pricing, therefore you and your insurance company will not have to pay for any additional costs. We also offer a lifetime warranty throughout the entire nation.

Most insurance companies use third party administrators (TPA) to file windshield claims from their policyholders on their behalf. The two major TPA’s include Safelite Solutions and LYNX Services. Avondale Windshield Replacement works with both of these providers and is a preferred member of their auto glass program.

Safelite Solutions is financially affiliated with Safelite Auto Glass. However, Safelite Auto Glass is the windshield repair and replacement service division that is an entity separate from Safelite Solutions.  Safelite Solutions handles the claim processing for many major insurance companies including; Farmers, Geico, USAA, American Family, Nationwide, Liberty Mutual, and Hartford.

Be aware that if you do not have a preferred shop choice (if you called directly) that your insurance company may recommend that you use Safelite Auto Glass for your repairs.  Keep in mind though, that as an Arizona policyholder you have the right to choose any auto glass repair facility of your choice. Furthermore, Safelite Auto Glass does not offer you any incentive for using their service. Additionally, Avondale Windshield Replacement offers the same nationwide lifetime warranty and charges your insurance company the same fair and reasonable contract pricing.

The other major third-party administrator is LYNX Services. LYNX Services handles claim processing for Allstate and State Farm customers. LYNX Services utilizes hundreds of auto glass companies based off of a pricing structure. Although, Avondale Windshield Replacement is a member of LYNX Services and honors all insurance companies contract pricing, LYNX will refer shops that will give them the best deal.

Here’s how it works, insurance companies like State Farm and Allstate, must pay fair and reasonable prices that are controlled by (National Auto Glass) NAG’s benchmark pricing. Allstate and State Farm submit to LYNX Services these fair and reasonable prices. LYNX Services handles the claim processing and already knows what State Farm and Allstate will pay for each job. Therefore, glass shops that bid the lowest giving LYNX the highest profit margin wins the job.

Is this a fair and ethical auto glass program? We don’t think so. We think that LYNX Services will give the job to any Tom, Dick, or Harry to make a profit and it may not necessarily be in your best interest. Additionally, LYNX Services believes this practice is ethical but glass shops that give out incentives such as $50 Cash Back, is not.  Hummm. Let’s see… If Avondale Windshield Replacement gives LYNX Services an incentive in the form of a discount that is ok. But, if Avondale Windshield Replacement, offers LYNX Services a lower discount reducing their third-party administrator profits, and giving the extra incentive to the customer it’s not ok?

Policyholders are now required to be on the line when they are making an auto glass claim. Avondale Windshield Replacement helps policyholders to report their claims by connecting them directly to their insurance providers TPA for the purposes of filing. We will answer any of your questions or concerns prior to the three-way call with your insurance company to make the claim filing process easy. In fact, we will stay on the line with you during the entire claim process.

Sometimes TPA’s may not have all access to your policy information from the insurance company. It is therefore important that you have your policy number with you. The whole process of filing your car windshield insurance claim will take about 15 minutes.

There are some common questions you should expect when your auto glass repair claim is being filed:

The insurance policyholder’s name: This is the name of the individual listed on the insurance card. Some of the insurance companies only accept claims from the policyholder listed on the policy.

The car insurance policy number: In some of the companies such as State farm, each car is given its own policy number.

The damaged piece of glass: This may be the automobiles windshield, vent glass, door glass, back glass or the vent glass.

Any other damage other than the auto glass? In case the answer is yes, you may have to pay your comprehensive deductible.

Was anyone hurt? Was anyone hurt as a result of this automobile windshield damage?

Did you file an auto glass repair claim with the insurance company previously? If you had spoken with your insurance agent and there is no damage to the car, then you will not have a claim number and no claim will have been filed.

The date when the auto glass damage occurred: You must provide a date. If you are unsure, just pick a date when you noticed the damage or the date when you suspect the damage might have occurred. You could also use the date when the damage got severe. You must ensure that you were covered during that date. If you choose a date that is over 6 months, the insurance may shelve your claim and delay it.

In what condition is the auto glass damage? If the area that is damaged is larger than the size of a dollar bill, then your windshield is not repairable.  If it is smaller, a windshield repair is possible. However, it is typically up to you whether you have it repaired or replaced. Windshield repairs are not a cosmetic fix and will not make the blemish go away.

Random Inspections: You should also know that some insurance companies may undertake some random inspections of the car before the damage is repaired or replaced or before the windshield repair facility receives the authorization to fix the problem. These insurance companies include USAA, American Family and Geico.

Some of the insurance companies use off line insurance verification methods when the TPA does not have direct access to the policy information. In such cases, the TPA sends an email to the insurance company requesting for verification of coverage. They then call you back once they get the information. They can only give the authorization to the auto glass facility after the verification is complete. The verification process normally takes about 24 hours. In case the situation is urgent, Avondale Windshield Replacement may contact your insurance agent directly and get details of your coverage.
